Andrew Groom was born in Sheffield and started playing the trombone at the age of 8. He studied music performance (BMus) at the Royal College of Music, London with Byron Fulcher, Lindsay Shilling, and Roger Harvey, before completing a masters in music performance at the Hochschule der Kunste, Bern, Switzterland with Ian Bousfield. As a trombonist, Andrew has played with the Philharmonia and BBC Philharmonic and he now is working as the Head of Music at Kimbolton Prep School, Cambridgeshire.
As well as arranging for various ensembles, Andrew is a composer of children's songs and musicals, regularly writing for his school to perform.
