Chris Smith completed his private studies in piano, trumpet and composition in 1976, after which he played trumpet touring with several bands including the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and a cruise playing on the Q.E.2 liner. Other notable engagements were an appearance on the Michael Caine film "Silver Bears", three Top of the Pops T.V. shows and a Royal Variety Command Performance. As a keyboard and piano player Chris has been a resident solo pianist at the Park Lane Hilton, played on many B.B.C Radio Broadcasts and toured with the Herb Miller Orchestra (Glenn Miller's brother} .
His many compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by a 30-piece orchestra for Radio 2, The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Three Degrees, and a Royal Fanfare for the Prince and Princess of Wales. As well as teaching for the Milton Keynes Music Service Chris also runs a "function" band called Prestige playing all styles of dance music for private parties and functions.
